Maiden Group are proud to be finalists in the Canterbury Business Awards for ACC Workplace Safety.
Dougal Holmes, Health and Safety Manager at Maiden Group, and his team have been working hard to make injury prevention, and Health and Safety top priority.
Maiden Group has engaged a strong and productive Health and Safety committee across the different facets of the organisation, from electrical to infrastructure.
The Maiden Group philosophy is simple, as Dougal confirms “We don’t pay you to come here and hurt yourselves. We provide you with training and tools to ensure this does not happen. We have created a cultural change. If it doesn’t look safe, feel safe, smell safe, and sound safe, then we all need to do something about it.
“It’s important to have the whole team on board. We have taken a more hands on, practical approach to Health and Safety. This has helped our teams grasp the relevance and advantages of eliminating harm from our work place. We do this by recognising achievements, and rewarding individuals with small gestures to encourage better, safer workplace behaviours.”
Maiden Group has well established policies and procedures in place, which are constantly monitored to ensure they meet the legal requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015. As Dougal confirms “Our Health and Safety awards are a reflection of this, are we’re pretty proud of how far we have come.”
The awards will be held on Wednesday 4th of October, stay tuned!
